Having started his career as a site foreman, CJ developed a practical and detailed knowledge of construction processes, which has since evolved through roles as a contracts manager and project leader. His career reflects a commitment to delivering complex, large-scale civil engineering projects with precision, safety, and efficiency.

High-Spec Basement Development.

One of our flagship projects was a state-of-the-art, high-spec basement construction.

Designed with precision and built to exacting standards, it highlights our capability to manage technically demanding and architecturally ambitious builds.
The Albany Civils Works project was awarded to C&P Mulgrew in Oct 2024, following a period of preconstruction design Value Engineering.

  • An alternative Kingpost temporary retaining wall structure was offered as alternative to the designed temporary works in this very restricted access site.
  • The 4.5m retained depth basement was constructed using 254x254UC 8m long beams at generally 2.5m centres.
  • 150mm precast concrete planks were used between the steel beams to retain the existing soil, made up generally of brown clay over black boulder clay.
  • With localised deepened and alcoves within the structure make up, this lends itself to being a very complex project, from both an engineering and logistics point of view.
  • Approximately 1,700m3 of soil was excavated and hauled through a narrow laneway and busy traffic management controlled residential streets, to a transfer location, before being removed to a licensed facility.
  • Ground and surface water control was managed by sinking 2no 600mm wells approx. 6m below ground level.

We were engaged to complete a programme of civil and groundworks snagging at the Eastmount residential development in County Wicklow.

The scope of works included remediation and reinstatement across drainage infrastructure, roadways, and public realm elements.
The project involved close coordination with site management and compliance with local authority requirements to ensure all works were completed to engineering and safety standards.

South Compound Civil Works.

  • Demolition of existing surface water drainage channels
  • New Trade waste manhole, gullies and connecting drains
  • New weld-mesh fencing, including pedestrian gates and vehicular gate
  • Demolition and replacement of an existing, external galvanised steel stairs
Vessel bases.
  • 3 Nr concrete bases
  • 2No. plinths to be cast on top of the existing concrete yard
Pipe Support off Building Columns.
  • Galvanised steel pipe supports are to be fixed to the existing building over a length of approximately 15ln.m at a height of approximately 7m+ above ground level
  • 2No. large openings in external cladding for piped services
  • 1No. small opening in external cladding for cable services

Cherry Orchard Football Club.

Groundworks & External Improvements.

We were appointed as main contractor to deliver a range of external improvement and groundworks packages to enhance the club’s facilities and spectator areas.

The project included demolition, site reinstatement, and construction of new access infrastructure.
The works improved site accessibility, upgraded spectator infrastructure, and prepared the grounds for new facility installations, all delivered with careful reinstatement to maintain the overall appearance and usability of the football club grounds.

Fence Removal & Reinstatement.

  • Removal and disposal of existing steel fencing posts and infill panels
  • Breaking out and disposal of concrete foundations
  • Backfilling voids with imported topsoil and reinstating with grass seeding to match surrounding areas
Dugout Removal & Preparation for New Installations.
  • Removal and disposal of existing dugouts
  • Breaking out and disposal of associated concrete plinths
  • Lifting and removal of existing astroturf surfaces (new astroturf installed by others)
  • Reinstatement of affected areas with topsoil and grass seed
  • Groundworks and preparation to facilitate installation of new dugouts
Concrete Walkway Construction.
  • Excavation for foundations and disposal of arisings
  • Installation of timber edging
  • Placement of hardcore sub-base
  • Installation of concrete reinforcement mesh
  • Pouring and finishing of concrete footpath with brush finish surface

We delivered a comprehensive package of civil engineering and groundworks to facilitate vehicle access improvements and associated infrastructure upgrades.

Scope of Works.

Footpath & Kerbing Work.

  • Removal and disposal of existing tarmac footpaths
  • Careful breakout and alteration of paved footpaths to accommodate a revised parking bay layout
  • Removal and reinstatement of concrete kerbs
  • Construction of new concrete footpaths, including sub-base preparation, hardcore kerbs, and concrete surfacing
Parking & Drainage Infrastructure.
  • Excavation to formation level for new parking bay arrangements
  • Disposal of excavated materials
  • Supply and installation of new road gully complete with frame and cover
  • Installation of PVC gully connections
Gates & Railings.
  • Removal of existing pedestrian railings, gate stop posts, and pedestrian gate policy/advance fittings
  • Construction of reinforced concrete ground beam and foundations for an electro-cantilever sliding vehicle gate (gate supplied by others)
  • Supply and installation of galvanised tubular pedestrian railings along the new footpath alignment
Car Park & External Works.
  • Application of new car park line markings
  • Soft landscaping and finishing works

Electrical & EV Infrastructure Groundworks.
  • Excavation of trenches for electrical ducting to serve EV charging points
  • Installation of PVC ducting and continuous safety marker tape
  • Construction of concrete foundations and bases for electric vehicle charging units
